Taking care of this type of plant is also one benefit of growing tomatoes upside down as you will have less contaminated soil and the insect control aspect would be less as the plant is out sight.
So what exactly do you need to grow your plant upside down?
First you will need to obtain a small bucket with a lid and preferably a handle. Obtain soil for hanging baskets and some organic fertilizer and finally your tomato plant. Clean the bucket before planting and cut a diameter about 2 and half inches thick in the bottom and the top of the bucket. Put your soil and fertilizer in the bucket close the lid and hang the bucket anywhere to your liking. Remember tomato plants need lots of sun but also protection from the wind.
Next you need to lightly insert the roots from your tomato plant into the bottom hole you cut in the bucket. It probably will be easier to grab the tomato plant from the top of the bucket when you are pulling the roots into the soil. Make sure not to be too hard and break the stem of the plant otherwise you will be starting over.
Once you have the roots where you thing they are comfortably in the soil and the greens are sticking out the bottom then your plant is ready. Close the lid on the top of the bucket and water your plants.
Make sure to turn your plants and watch them carefully for damage or under exposure in certain areas. Once this is achieved your tomato plants will be blossoming and will be ready to enjoy.
